Sheff & Cook is proud to congratulate Senior Partner Doug Sheff on being named Lawyer of the Year in recognition of his work on cases against Columbia Gas and Aaron Hernandez.

Douglas K. Sheff, Senior Partner of Sheff & Cook in Boston, has been named Lawyer of the Year by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly. The honor was presented in recognition of Sheff’s work on behalf of the family of Leonel Rondon, who lost his life during the gas explosions in the Merrimack Valley in Septemebr 2018, and the family of Odin Lloyd, murder victim of Aaron Hernandez, ex-NFL superstar.

“I am humbled to receive this recognition as Lawyer of the Year, and share this honor with everyone at Sheff & Cook, who help people get justice when their lives are shattered by the loss of a loved one,” Sheff said.

Sheff & Cook reached an undisclosed civil settlement with Columbia Gas on behalf of the Rondon Family. Sheff worked closely with Senator Ed Markey and Congresswoman Lori Trahan in an effort to pass national safety legislation in Rondon’s name, and established an annual award for the prevention of explosion and fire hazards. The Hernandez case was similarly resolved confidentially.
